Do India really need a National language?

I am not writing this to justify Hindi should not be the National Language. Because it is not already. Its officially the Official language. So why does India require a national language ? Its because a Tamilian can fluently complaint to a Delhi Minister or a Maharashtrian to sell Jio sim easily in North east or a Tribal can greet a Punjabi Ecotourist like 'Kaise ho (How are you)' or every citizen starts understanding the meaning of each central government scheme or its that PM can address people in a bid to ensure 'The nation wants to know (what he speaks)'. I tried hindi and somehow learnt that sound 'gaha'. I faced this problem when I was about to sing a Hindi song in my company's culturals. But does it stop at reproducing 'gaha' or is there any more to it ?

No, but can it be or should it be ?

Lets suppose Hindi be our National language. Easy communication across states and states with Centre. Banks can easily do business with only Hindi challans. Government websites can easily be displayed in only one language. Election propaganda can be easy with 'Dhanyawads' and no pathetic situation of trying thirukural in hindi slang. Transport, Communication, Conversations etc etc can all be in Hindi. Think about the literacy rate. Similarly, GST and NEET are all a kind of 'One Nation model'. But these are not that socially strong to add to that homogenization vision.
Language is one of the most important vitality for any person. In future, If I can dream of an Artificial Intelligence Robot that can translate each of our thoughts into words, I am damn sure it would be in your Mother tongue. It got such strong emotional connection to each person. That explains a sudden happy gut feeling when you hear your Mother tongue outside your locality after a longtime. Be it outside your town or outside your state or outside your country, the feeling remains a Butterfly Effect. Its the character, Its the most satisfying expression and Its a pride of my heritage.
So shall we wipe out the necessity of a national language? Yes, but wait!! Then how can I think of avoiding hearing thirukural in hindi? Because National language is quite different from a link language. So when I accept a National language, I mean to prioritize it over my Mother tongue. Infer it emotionally. For India, a Nation-in-the making and will always be, there is no necessity of a national language at all !! So what about a link language then? If we think of a Non-Hindi one, then we should choose one only from other Indian languages!!! Same nationalist problem. But we do have one which is Non-Indian, quite familiar and much emotionally demeaning. Yes, your guess is right !! Its English !!
English is not a original national property of any country in world. It belongs to Indo-European family and derived out of contribution from German, French, Roman and Latin. Its simplest form and meagre letters forming millions of words made it a global linguist symbol quite easily across ages. So no fear of europeans claiming an IPR over it. More than being a common language, English will make Indians rule the world soon demographically. Being world's largest diaspora of around 3.5 crores, Modern history is witnessing most prolific Indianisation not just economically but more socially and of all politically. You know how much parliamentarians, ministers, politicians of Indian origin dominate UK, US politics ? When India becomes most populated nation soon, think of globalisation impacts redistributing Indians further in ageing Japan, UK, Scandinavia and more sooner in rest of Europe. So English is going to be linguistic magic for India more than a link language. Never miss the Opportunity!!!
Constitution has always allowed to promote Hindi has one link language. It symbolizes a voluntary way to promote such common linguist. But Linguistic Chauvinism has always faced brunt right from erstwhile Anti-Hindi Imposition till now. People will learn when need arises. That need can never be one to prove ourselves as a Nationalist or Patriotic. Both these have a different meaning. We pay taxes, respect Governance, fulfill duties, enjoy our rights and all these are out of Nationalist ideals. Never ever confuse it with this linguistic priority. Its true we are changing !! So you should too !!
